When going to see an agency regarding representation, the number one mistake is wearing too much makeup and trying to “look like a model” or looking like your going out to a nightclub. Agents want to see your real beauty, so here is what I recommend.
1. Do your makeup very clean and fresh as if you were going to visit your boyfriend’s parents for the first time. Make sure your foundation is a perfect match to your current skin tone and DON’T tan or do your foundation to make yourself look tan- this is a big no-no.
2. Your eyes should be done in neutral colors and once again, not heavy… think fresh and pretty.
Use a natural or soft fashion liner for your eyes and finish with a light coat of mascara.
3. For your lips, the theme continues with a nice, soft, neutral shade.
4. Finish with a soft blush and powder to remove any shine.
Remember less is more, and be yourself.
When going on a casting that calls for you to arrive hair and makeup ready:
Remember to ALWAYS know what the casting is for. The client or person for whom you may or may not get the job with will want to see you the way THEY shoot their models.
For example if you were going on a casting for J. Crew, they would want to see you in a natural, clean or fresh look.
By contrast, if your going on a casting for let’s say a Prada or Dolce & Gabbana campaign, then it’s likely that they would want to see you with a more dramatic look, heavier makeup and a more fashion-type hair.
In either case, do your research on the client before going to the casting. See what types of looks they use and emulate that. Lastly, remember your agency is there to support you and help in anyway possible, so when in doubt ask them and Good Luck!

It’s really well done! Respect to author.
i am happy to find it thanks for sharing it here. Nice work.
Mr. Baglien that was a really great article. I think that also applies to everyday life not just modeling. I’ll remember all those tips when I’m getting ready to go out or to dinner with the family. Thanks so much!
